Our Guiding Principles
I. CPE is dedicated to strengthening the local church at home and abroad by providing it with tools for outreach, discipleship, and cell or church planting. As such we need to pursue our development with in the local church. This is easier said than done as many local churches are rather volatile, or subject to significant changes. This simply means that there needs to be a greater commitment to go the slow steady way of working through the local body. In time we will reap the greater dividends for having done so.
II. CPE is dedicated to equipping and enabling lay people from the local church in evangelism, discipleship and cell or church planting. This means that our number one priority in any campaign is not those we are witnessing to and discipling but those we are witnessing and discipling with; They represent the long-term viability of our ministry. They will make possible the wonderful prospect of working again with their church and with them and wonderfully with those who we will have reached through them in past campaigns.
III. CPE prioritizes making disciples. We not only speak of the conservation and follow up of those who have made decisions for Christ, and we not only provide material for that follow up but during the campaign we immediately transition to the priority of discipleship. This means that our campaigns are not only evangelism exercises but also exercises in immediate discipleship. As a part of this commitment we would maintain a vigilant dialogue with those we partner with, in a continual effort to learn how we may do a better job of follow up and discipleship. (This commitment has taught us many new lessons. For example we have discovered that when ever possible it is better to work off of appointments than to go door to door. We have also discovered that this helps in the follow up when we are able to disciple people in small groups instead of individually.)
IV. CPE seeks, in every place, to develop partnerships between participating churches through which we can help the local churches involved expand their ministry to one another upon the equipping and enabling principles of CPE. I.e. In Russia we met with the pastors of the Christian and Missionary Union, at their invitation, to give them a 28-hour seminar on developing strategies for planting cell churches.
V. CPE is committed to growing its ministry primarily, if not exclusively, through and in the existing infrastructure of the local church, their districts and their denomination. As such we develop relationships with local church leadership in order to mobilize their churches into ongoing renewable relationships with churches abroad. In connection with this we have and will pursue developing partnerships with local churches, regional teams of local churches, church districts and denominations.
VI. CPE is dedicated to use our ministry also as a platform to proclaim to the body of Christ the deeper life and the all sufficiency of Christ for the believer. There is nothing like engaging the body in the exercise of missions and evangelism to stir up within it an appetite for the power of Christ for witness and His presence of holiness.
